- Your Reminders: Content and scheduling details for reminders you create.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Device Details: Type of device, operating system version, and unique identifiers.
- App Usage: How you interact with Maia and which features you use.
- Time Zone: To properly schedule your notifications and reminders.
- Push Token: A unique identifier that allows us to send notifications to your device.
- IP Address: Used to derive approximate (city-level) location information.
- Analytics Data: We use Mixpanel to collect anonymized usage data to improve our service, which may include device information and interaction patterns.
What We Don't Collect
- We don't access your precise location.
- We don't access your contacts or other apps without permission.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't collect data that's not necessary for providing our service.
- We don't use your conversations to train AI models.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following specific purposes:
- Providing Core Functionality: To deliver the App's features, including conversation functionality, personalized responses, and user-requested services.
- Message Processing: To transmit your messages to Anthropic's Claude API for generating AI responses and store conversation history for your future reference.
- Memory System Operation: To create and maintain a memory graph that enables contextual understanding of your conversations, stored in encrypted form.
- Notification Delivery: To send notifications and reminders that you have explicitly requested or configured.
- Application Improvement: To analyze anonymized usage patterns, identify errors, and enhance application performance.
- Security Measures: To implement authentication, encryption, and other security controls that protect your information.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes as required.
Your Conversations and AI
How we handle your conversations with Maia:
- Your conversations are stored securely with encryption both on your device and in our systems
- Your conversations are only used to provide Maia's services to you
- Your conversations remain accessible to you for as long as you maintain your account
- Your conversations are never used to train AI models
- You can delete all your conversation history through the app's settings
Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security practices to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using secure HTTPS protocols.
- Encryption at Rest: Your data is encrypted when stored on our servers.
- Local Encryption: Data stored on your device is encrypted to prevent unauthorized access.

- Access Controls: We maintain strict controls over who can access your data within our systems.
While we implement these security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, but cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Data Storage and Retention
We store and retain your data as follows:
- Your conversations and memory data are stored in encrypted form on your device.
- To enable syncing across your devices, your data is also securely stored in our cloud database.
- We create and store mathematical representations of your messages to power Maia's memory capabilities.
- We retain your personal data until you delete your account or request data deletion.
- When you delete your account, we will begin the process immediately and complete the removal of your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
- You can request deletion of your data by contacting us.
Third-Party Services
Maia integrates with the following categories of third-party services:
- AI Services: We use AI providers like Anthropic's Claude to process your conversations and generate responses. When you interact with Maia, your messages are processed by these services to provide AI responses. We do not allow these providers to use your conversations to train their AI models.
- Storage and Database Services: We use secure cloud services to store your encrypted data and enable features like cross-device synchronization and memory capabilities.
- Analytics: We use analytics tools to collect anonymized usage data that helps us improve the app's performance and functionality.
- Development Infrastructure: We use standard development and distribution platforms to build and deliver the app.
Each of these service providers has their own privacy policy and security measures. We carefully select providers that maintain high standards of data protection. No third-party service provider is permitted to use your personal information for their own purposes beyond what is necessary to provide services to us.
